One thing you can do is to fill up on fiber. Things like sugar-free metamucil are great weight loss strategies as this will make you full so that you won’t want to eat. Just make sure when you mix up the metamucil that you drink it right away because if you don’t it will gel in the cup and it will be very hard to drink (a lesson learned)!
Another good thing to do is exercise a lot. People think that 30 minutes of exercise 3-4 times a week works to lose weight, but the truth is this might burn an extra 1200 calories a week at best. Many people think they are burning 1000+ calories on the elliptical in an hour, but those calorie counters are way too generous and you never actually burn that many calories.
The problem is that 1200 calories a week is only about 1/3 a pound of fat. Exercising 4 times a week for 30 minutes will not cause any significant weight loss on its own. You have to diet and preferably exercise even more.
If you are completely inactive, you do have to break yourself in slow. However, you will want to slowly increase your capacity. It is good if you can lift weights 3-4 times a week for an hour and do cardiovascular activity for an hour as much as 6 times a week. This way, you will burn 5000 or so calories a week, which is about a pound and a half of fat.
This will add up quickly, especially if you do a little dieting. You don’t have to restrict too much and you can still lose 10 pounds a month if you do this kind of exercise. A lot of poeple don’t realize this and try to restrict a little and do very little exercise and wonder why they don’t lose weight.
One of my top weight loss tips is to just do a lot of low-intensity cardio. Many people think an hour of cardiovascular exercise every ay is something terrible and to be avoided, but if you just walk on the treadmill on an incline and watch your favorite TV show, it’s not bad at all. You don’t have to run a marathon to burn calories!
